Wow, what a difference in the “feel” by just “rounding" the corner of the
building! I vote for #2 also, though the part of the scene in #1 from the water
right underneath the colorful “Romania” letters, including the folks at the
railing and the rock face and the foliage above them is just fun. Thanks,
David.
Gosh, now that I’ve written that and looked at #1 again…what do you think it
would look like, David, if you cropped the left vertical edge at a point near
to the left-most roof over-hang of the Church, eliminating the residence and
the rest of side of the frame? I just put an blank piece of cardboard as a mask
on that line, and I like it - it’s not classically-balanced, but you might like
it, too, or not. They’re both lovely images, David. :)
Best regards,
Peter S.

I meant to add, in my last post, a question.
Which view do you prefer? (I think I prefer the second one.)
David.
Along the Danube is one of the most beautifully situated churches,
anywhere.
The Manastirea Mraconia was first built in 1453. It was destroyed during
the Russian - Austrian - Turkish war between 1787 and 1792, and then
rebuilt.
When the Iron Gates dam was built, in 1968, that second building was
flooded and now lies at the bottom of the river.
This new, Orthodox Christian Monastery was completed in 1993. What it
lacks in grandeur, it makes up for with beauty.
