I meant to add, in my last post, a question.

Which view do you prefer?  (I think I prefer the second one.)

David.

Along the Danube is one of the most beautifully situated churches,
anywhere.

The Manastirea Mraconia was first built in 1453. It was destroyed during
the Russian - Austrian - Turkish war between 1787 and 1792, and then
rebuilt.

When the Iron Gates dam was built, in 1968, that second building was
flooded and now lies at the bottom of the river.

This new, Orthodox Christian Monastery was completed in 1993. What it
lacks in grandeur, it makes up for with beauty.
