Thanks, Peter!

I'm always impressed how easy it is to stand there, shoot 4 or 5 overlapping
shots and put them together to make an (often spectacular) panorama.

The software is free, and largely automated.  More of us should give it a "go"!

David.

Wonderful images, David. The clarity and colors are just so clean and
crisp.

Best regards,
Peter S.

My experience, Frank, was very different than yours.  At least, the
first.

Like you, we were there well after tourist season - in the first week
of November.

The first spa we went to was essentially large, crowded, public
swimming pool.  The outdoor pool was nice and warm, with very clean
water.  Indoors, the pools  ranged from medium through extremely hot
... and as the waters got hotter, the water also got murkier.  I'm not
sure if this was because of a higher mineral content, or dirt. I tried
'em all, but they cured nothing.  But, then mostly we stuck to the
lovely, clean, warm outdoor pool.  It was nice, even when it rained.

They had a cafeteria, but no other amenities that I could see.  After
an hour, or so, we'd had all we could take.  But, the locals go in the
morning, get out to have lunch and then head back to the pools to soak
until 4 or 5pm.  I don't know how they do it.

Our second spa visit was to a private pool complex in the basement of
our hotel in BalatonFured.  Waters were warm, clear and clean.  We
were there, between conventions and virtually had the place to
ourselves. And by the pools they offered every amenity that you had
expected (at extra cost, of course).

I guess you win some, and you lose some.

David.

When we went, it was off season and no one was around.

But Barbara wanted to see the Thermal Waters.... healing waters in
local speak...... So off we went to visit a Spa.  We ( I ) expected
to see various beautiful rooms filled with posh accouterments and
offerings of nail work, foot massage. etc.  Wrong..... It was set up
like an American Hospital with treatment rooms, Brunhilda types
offering to crack your back ( I don't speak Huingarian, so my
interpretation of what I saw might me off...) and a big lake area
with boardwalks and that final rinse in the lake itself..... it was
water that looked dark ( dirty?)....  People "taking the waters" all
over the place.....

Instead of it being a place to relax, it was a medical place... like
a hospital.

Across the street were several ( like maybe 10) places for people
seeking sustenance.....fried food, pickled food and all sort of
stuff that is definitely NOT low in calories, not fattening. not
fatty etc.....  quite a difference from the environment across the
road...

We had Fish Soup at our hotel restaurant.... delish.....

Lake Balaton is one of the big, if not the biggest, tourist draws
in Hungary.

It is a lovely lake, some 78 Km (48 miles) long, but has an average
depth of only 3.3 meters (11 feet) so it warms up rapidly, in the
summer sun.  Ideal for boating or swimming.

We stopped at a small town (I do not know it's name) and spent a
lovely hour just walking the promenades.

Here is a 5 panel panorama, which will give you the idea...

As almost everywhere, there is a fellow playing an accordion, hoping
for a few Forints.
