As mentioned, I indulged in a new "toy" at Christmas. This means that I now
have several lenses to sell and that means taking photos of the gear.
Yesterday afternoon, I started, but ran out of daylight. Now Philippe's
"Uncle" Ted, taught me well and I rarely, if ever, use "Twinkie Lights".
But, yesterday, I found a good use for one!
The Q-20 flash that I have, (like many other) can be dialed down to 1/64th
output. I put the camera on a tripod, set the flash and expose for a 5 to 7
second time exposure.
The flash fills in just enough to evenly illuminate the scene and the time
exposure brings up enough of the shadows that there is no discernible shadows
in the image. Bingo! A daylight balanced shot, made under 2700k LED lamps,
and a small, underpowered 5,500k electronic flash.
As the ancient Japanese Proverb says ... "Simple, when know how."
