The doors are rigged so they cannot be opened dangerously, e.g. when the vehicle is in motion. Safe or not, they are wickedly neat looking doors! A client of mine in the auto body business specialises in installing 'coach doors' on any vehicle, so we've had many discussions. A chap in my neighbourhood owns a classic Lincoln 4-door convertible with suicide doors from the 1960s. He rents the car out for movies, parades, pageants and the like. It is one wicked looking car.
