I had similar experience with my Nikon F90 in the mid-90s. The camera was sent to an official Nikon shop in Germany due to film transport failure. After several months and my inquiry, I have been told that they are still waiting for my decision whether the camera should be repaired or dumped (!!!) Never the less, I paid for the service, got my Nikon back after six month - unrepaired! No one is immune, I guess...
Good Morning, Miha! You are right .... nobody is immune. However, this is not the first Leica lens that has taken 8+ months to fix. And in each case, the problem has not been with the service dept, but with the Leica's ability to provide parts. Over the years, I've had 5 lenses fixed by Kindermann and only once was anything repaired in under 3 months. To be fair, that one time no parts were needed and Kindermann was able to turn it (a 2x converter) around in just a couple of weeks. Either way, their workmanship has always been impeccable.
Still, the 48 hour turn around of Olympus just blew me away!It will be interesting to see just how good a job they do. Should know, within the week.
Sorry to hear of your Nikon experience.
