g'Mornin' Aram!
This is just a "grab-shot". No planning, no macro. Just zoom in, hold it as
steady as you can, and press the bloody button!
But, with the close-focus distance of 1.4meters (about 4 feet), the excellent
OIS and the effective reach of an 800mm lens, it's quite amazing what you can
do.
The bee was shot with autofocus, at 358mm (effectively 716mm!), hand held. I
could have zoomed in closer, but the bees were moving too fast!
David.
I'd say you dodged the bullet well. And a testament to the focusing,------
too. Do you use autofocus for macros or did you manually focus?

Just short of Brookmere, we stopped for a picnic and I noticed some
bees paying close attention to a stand of almost-done-for-the-year
fireweed plants. (Fireweed, btw, is the official flower of the Yukon.)
So, out came the 100-400 PanaLeica.
While not up to the standard of Sonny's recent bee photo, it served to
test the camera/lens after it's recent "drop-test".
You decide if it still works.

What you see is roughly the center 50% of the original image.
