That's an interesting chain of events that you foresee and you've convinced me that this is what will probably happen. Film has been edged out of so many of its former uses, no wonder that the market for film and the chemistry that accompanies it has impacted the demand. nevertheless, luddites, like myself and quite a few others, will probably soldier on making their silver images.

G'mornin' Dave!

One of the biggest losses for the film industry was the switch from film to digital X-rays. A single X-ray image took an amount of film equal to many rolls of 35mm! Digital has been a huge boon for the medical profession, but not so good for Kodak! (Even little Logan Lake - pop. 2300 - now has a digital X-ray machine!)

However, there is no reason you shouldn't continue with film and silver printing.

Heavens, there are folks out there still making Daguerreotypes! Yesterday, at the Old Courthouse, in Kamloops, there was a silent auction for various bits of art. One of the images was a small Cyanotype, a process invented by Herschel, in 1842! So, somebody's still doing it... and near us, to boot!

But film users will have to be willing to jump through a few more hoops, as time goes on, to satisfy their desires.

Meanwhile, enjoy the process!

Cheers!
