A week ago at a family gathering my brother was using a P&S digital while I used the R4 with 90 'cron and ISO 400 C-41 film. The difference in picture quality was startling. I suspect the P&S market accepts this poor level of quality because of limited exposure to better-quality snapshots, just as the vast majority of the SLR market (digi or film) is fearful of manual focus due to lack of exposure to a good manual-focus camera.
