In Sumeg, not far from Budapest, is the Sumeg Castle.
Originally built in the mid or late 13th century, it was rebuilt after Austrian
troops sent it on fire, in 1713.
Since 1989, it has been privately held. It was restored on a large scale, and
is now operated as a tourist attraction, providing events and tournaments, and
is considered to be Hungary's most well-preserved fortress.
We missed tourist season, but did get a chance to tour the stables, which was a
great hit with both Rose and her daughter, as both are consummate horsewomen.

The stables are fabulous, with each stall as clean as in a Disney movie. The
place is simply stunning!
There is even a stall dedicated to bathing the horses, with warm water and heat
lamps to dry the horses!

On each stall's ornate, wooden gate is a brass plaque, giving the name and
details of the horse.
One caught my eye, and I'd love to be the "fly on the wall", when the name of
horse and rider are announced!

I really do hope it means something else, in Hungarian! But, it seems to be a
Spanish name and means exactly what we think!
