No excuses needed. Excellent shot. Now, if only you had attached the sound track....

"What do you get when you cross a Dutch, new-age, alto-soprano, Celtic, folk, roots, singer with a Saskatchewan raised, country-blues-rock guitar playing Métis................."

Why, you get our friends, Darrel & Saskia Delaronde

We went to listen to them perform, in Kamloops, last night.

When we first met them, a dozen years ago, Darrel was a pretty good guitarist. Today, he is absolutely excellent on both Guitar and Mandolin; much in the styles of Canadian Hall-of-Fame-er, Gary Fjellgaard and/or Chet Atkins.

This may have a lot to do with the fact that D&S often tour with Gary & his wife, Lynn, who are long time friends of ours, and that's how we met Darrel & Saskia.

Dr. Ted has drummed into me that you never waste your film or photons on someone who is talking. For we screw up our faces, something fierce, when forming the words. Far better to shoot when your subject is listening to the other side of the conversation.

This, however, is not so easy when you're trying to shoot singers. They're seldom in "listening mode".

The lighting was harsh and so I was shooting at ISO 1600, 1250th @ 1.8.

So, without further excuses, here's Saskia...

Comments, criticism, appreciated, as always.
