Aram,

Sorry for it's so late... Days are shorter and shorter, especially the
working ones :-)
The pictures done with the 5D have a resolution I should like with the D3.
The difference, as you wrote is in the dryness of the sand and the own
enlightment.
The drops came from a middle rain (some big drops from high clouds) but only
few shy drops.
639 is the one I also prefer from this series. I don't use polarizing
filter, none any filter, BTW, since a lot of years (decades?).
Maybe it's time to recover this tool and have a try :-)
Thanks for your time and kind comments.
Marc

Marc.

Nicely done. I for one do not see a problem with the first three taken with
the 5D. Any problem Richard has I think is just that these are different
sands, (more dry) and maybe you used a
different angle. To me they are just fine.

I think the first shot is very nice. I am wondering what caused those
roundish "drops" in the smoother part of the sand. They really add to the
photo, to my eye.
The wet sands from New Zealand are very different. In some, the reflections
make it look almost like ice, like it was very cold there. I know it was
not.

If I had to pick favorites, 644 and 639 would be at the top. Nice lines
move you around through the photos. Great reflections. Funny thing, if I
had stumbled upon these my first thoughts would be to use a polarizing
filter to get rid of all that glare so I could see the sand. That would be
the wrong thing to do. Next time I am on the beach taking sand photos, I
will take them both ways so I do not miss anything.

Thanks for showing.

Aram
