[LRflex] Rawshooter?

I have just discovered RAWSHOOTER ESSENTIALS 2005. It looks both simple
and slick. Has any one here compared the Raw to .tif conversion as
compared to the EOS viewer that comes with the 20D?
Everywhere I read, they say that third party converters are better than
factory made stuff... yet this one is free!
According to the blurbs, the founder is one of the founders of Capture
One, apparently the raw converter to beat, these days. Anyone here know
just how good Rawshooter can be?
