Hi Doug
Does your R5 have the number/letter 'R5' on the raised 'bar' like on the R7s and R6.2s ?
I've seen a couple on Ebay like that, they must be very late production [also].

Guten morgen Xavier,
My R7 is one of the 500 "Partner Aktion" models (which for some unknown reason doesn't sell for more than a normal R7) and has a number 2182171 so it's quite a late model. I don't know what was wrong with Doug's tested 21mm but I've always found the lens to be very sharp, no vignetting and, as you say hardly any distortion. In addition it looks good too. I've used it a lot not only for landscapes, seascapes and buildings but also it's a great lens for shooting dioramas of small scale model vehicles. Sometimes I think it's probably my
favourite lens. I hadn't really noticed the "problem" until you mentioned it as I hardly ever use P-mode.

BTW It might be of interest to collectors that my R5 has a number greater than 1900000 which is suppoosed to have been the last production number. Have I got the last R5?

Morning Dear Douglas.

Ah, this is interesting! My R7 has the serial number 192 57 70 , is yours in the same batch?

I think it's is just a matter of display. Comparing the values from different modes, it seems the lens is really measuring at f4 and can do the difference between f4 and above.

I did some 10 pix yesterday near the shop, because I'm more at ease with Paris sceneries than Victoria's, I've been astonished by the straightness of the verticals, as well as the even lit picture in the viewfinder.

So the litterature, such as Doug's (Herr) page, says it is soft. Never mind, it's really fun to use and to my eye, it is rather sharp.

G'Day.

Bonsoir Xavier,
I just tried the same set up 21/4 (a wonderful lens) on my R7. It does indeed light up the 4 and 5.6 in P-mode, but no change when I try to shift the ring towards the non-existant 32. In P-mode on the R5 it shows f4 so it must be something to do with the R7 electronics.
Don't worry, I think the exposure is going to be OK with your new lens, you'll
love it.

Hi Gang.

After this summer trial of a 21mm Super Angulon, property of David Young, I got the bug.

Today, in a "cash converter" shop there was this mint, serial number over 3 millions, lying on a shelf, taking dust.

A bit of bargaining and they obviously wanted to get rid of the product. So, I bought it. Much cheaper than any 19mm I could see around and on ebay.

A real fun to use this angulon. Strange to focus. When I used David's, it was mostly scale focusing but I've tried to focus at 0.2 m, not so obvious....

Now question: when I set the R7 in P mode, the viewfinder lit the f4 and f5.6 as the maximum aperture for the lens although it is reputed to be f4.
If I push a little the aperture ring farther than f22 (like if there was a f32), the f4 lights up correctly.

Is this very normal? Is there a check to see what is wrong?

In mode A and M, it acts normal. Obviously the Third cam is the culprit.

Thanks for information. Regards.
