can dust on a mirror be safely cleaned with some sort of swab, and
solvent...? what solvent?

I probably can but I've never tried it. It's a front-surface mirror
so it's easy to scratch.

though it seems safer than removing dust from a digital sensor...

maybe the same approach will work?

Steve

No, Steve. The sensor is covered with a glass plate... the mirror is a very soft plastic.

Things safe for a sensor will still scratch the mirror.

Unless very serious, I wouldn't bother about it, myself. If it does bother you, send to DAG, Sherry, Leica, etc. I really don't think it's a DIY job, other than the blower.

Cheers!
