Further thoughts....  the double sided tape used to hold the 'DIY' " 
plastic sheet "Storm Windows"  to your window frames would be a 
better choice. It's double sided, and usually described as having an 
"aggressive" adhesive.  Certainly, it's stronger than the usual 
double sided tape.  Trim both the foam and the tape with an Olfa or 
X-acto art knife.

The foam, btw, should be a black, closed-cell foam.
