You could say the same thing about the M lenses..... and bodies.

 

It did not stop the M8, M9......and Leica's success with those cameras, and sales of new lenses.

 

A LOT of users want new lenses, especially new to the brand.....  It is the new D body that would kick start the sale of lenses


Remember, 10/10/10 is not that far away..

 

I really hope they make an R10.... or whatever they wish to call a Leica-Digi-SLR

I think leica is painfully aware of the R gear out there -- nearly 50 years worth of production of superior optics in mounts made to last a couple of lifetimes, which they would have to compete with for sales!  Yeah they'd probably sell a 28-90 af, perhaps an 80-200 af to go with the new bodies, but most would keep their MF 19, 21, 60, 80, 100, 180 Summicron, 280, 400, etc.
