Good morning to you all. Hey, I have a question for those of you who have
worked commercially or have taken photo assignments for publications. Roughly
how many images, be they film or digital, would you shoot to complete the job?
My question comes not only from something that Dr Ted mentioned in the video
about presenting color and b&w images to an editor, but also from an article
that I’ve linked below from The Guardian on the city of Jaipur in India and the
images that were used to illustrate the article.

I’m sure that photo-editors can be ruthless in the culling of images to include
with an article; but is there an expectation on the part of the photographer as
to roughly how many images that will be need to be captured? Specifically, I’m
wondering how many images the photographer potentially shot of Jaipur and
presented to have 21 accepted and used with the article?

Best regards,
Peter S.
