I agree with Dr Ted, Aram, and yourself, David. Ted's crop is better.
Thanks also for the tutorial on Dof and extenders! :)
Best regards,Peter Stevens

Hi Ted!
Darn it, Ted! Do have to ALWAYS be right???? ;-)
When I first read your suggestion I thought it wouldn't work. Fortunately, I
had a bit more, above the bird, so that it did not look too much like a belt of
bird. So, I tried it, and although a non-standard size for printing, it works
very well, indeed.
The original cropping is here: http://www.furnfeather.ca/look/Fem_BW_Teal.html
Ted's crop is here: http://www.furnfeather.ca/look/Fem_BW_Teal_2.html
And I think I like Ted's better.
Any other opinions???
David.
Hi David,------
For what it's worth?? I'd crop the bottom with the major out of focus chick
as its' so badly out of focus! As it does nothing but create a visual
distraction when the mother bird and other chick are nice and sharp! Yes a
bit tight across the bottom but much better with the major distracting out of
focus "chunk of bird?"
cheers,
ted

Good evening Flexers!
After some days dealing with a leaky pontoon, I finally got my pontoon boat
in the water, yesterday, though nary a bird in sight.
Today, I took my craft to the farthest end of Tunkwa Lake and found a bonanza.
Unfortunately, while sneaking up on the ducks, I heard a sudden, sharp
"Pop!", followed by a "Kersploosh!" sound. I quickly checked all the
lynch-pins, for 8 of them hold the boat together, and I'd had to lose one,
"at sea"! They were all in place, so I looked further to realized I'd
somehow lost the lens hood to my Oly 50-200 zoom! Overboard and gone
forever, in 2 to 3 fathoms of water. I'd never lost one before, but
fortunately I have a spare. Unfortunately, it was at home and I was on the
lake.
Still, the camera worked pretty well without it. Here is a female Blue
Winged Teal, with a couple of her offspring.

C&C welcomed, as always.
David.
PS: for those who care... ISO 500 - f5.6 - 1/1600th. Oly 50~200 w/1.4x.
