thanks for making me blush ;-)
As to the Mateus wine found in the shops, it doesn't come from the estate
you saw in my postcards. the whole area can use the name if I understand it
well. Which doesn't preclude the more common found type to be very good by
the way.
We bought some wine from the "palace" but haven't tasted it yet as it later
travelled 3500 km in the camper - maybe this winter?
The family also produces port down the the Douro valley, and this we tried,
and of course bought as well.
OTT: the Douro valley postcards will come in due time :-)

The Sparkling wine Rose Mateus is with the Lancers Wine among my favorites.
Far before the classical Vinho Verde White wine.

Located in Northern Portugal Mateu is home to Vila Mateus which belongs to
an excellent wine producer and old aristocratic family.
