Of course, Steve. And the Nikon "solution" in APS Nikons works very
well, too.. depending on your needs, wants and shooting style.

I was referring not to a "full sized" sensor, but to the full sized
camera bodies, such as the E3.

Despite the smaller sensor, the E3 fills my wants, needs and
shooting style, to a "T". Thus, I live in hope of the rumoured E4
(E5?) expected in the fall of 2010. And, I hope, with more success
than my earlier hopes for the R10!!!

what will the E4 and E5 have, that the E3 does not have?

Hi Steve!

According to the rumour mill (a very reliable source ... ;-) ) the updated E3 (E3.2?) due out this fall, will have some of the features of the E30 (Art filters [whopee], multiple exposures and improved Live View) as well as the 12.3MP sensor. The E4 (E5?) due out one year later, should feature a 14mp sensor.

Personally, I don't care for the "art filters", nor the Live View, but I'd like to see the 14mp sensor.

Why? Because most commercial printers (which I use) print at 300dpi. And an 11 x 14" print = 11x300 (3300) x 14x300( 4200) which = 13.86 Mp.

Thus a 14mp sensor will allow me to print at 11x14 without interpolation, or allow me an 8x10 or 8x12 after cropping, without interpolation.

As I don't print larger than 11x14, that works for me. And If they can do it with noise levels at ISO 640 no worse than the E3 at ISO 640, I'll be a happy camper.

Cheers!
