Anybody who just installs following the default values deserves what they get.
I did not even know about the "privacy dangers" when I installed it, but took
the time to go through each one and ask myself if I wanted that info to be
shared or not. I think the privacy thing is mainly a big deal with us older
folks. The younger generation doesn't give a rip. They just want to be
connected all the time on all their devices to the whole world, privacy be
damned.
One thing about disabling some of these setting is that I cannot use Cortina.
She was a nag, anyway, so the divorce was not painful on my end. Not sure how
she feels since she does not know where I am now.

Worth mentioning perhaps, that update will try to reinstall itself. If you have
your updates set to automatic, it probably will. If you have your updates set
to ask you before installation, at least if you have Win7.1 Pro or Ultimate,
you can then hide the update. Then you'll no longer be pestered. Not sure about
the Home edition but worth checking.
Caught another one last week which I hid as it's for "future compatibility" and
of no use to Win7. KB2952664
Pro and enterprise machines are still being sold with Win7 Pro installed. It's
patched by MS until January, 2020.
From what I've read, Win10 will be the last "new" O/S and will simply be
updated indefinitely. Win10 was "supposed" to be aimed at enterprise eventually.
Before business take any interest, MS will need to roll out an install which
closes all doors by default and gives system administrators full control of
updates. Otherwise, the enterprise sector will look elsewhere for an IBM O/S
replacement. Maybe 10.4 will do the trick? ;-)

Is Windows 10nagging you? Always popping up and demanding you upgrade?
It bothers me, particularly on our two, older laptops, that barely have the
horsepower to run Win-7. A fancier OS would just bog them down, more.
So, if you're being bugged, here's how to get rid of it.
1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Installed Updates
2. Put KB3035583 into the search box in the upper right of the dialog as shown
below,
press ENTER to search for it
3. Click on the "update for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583)" to highlight it,
then click
"Uninstall"
4. Unfortunately, you'll have to Restart your computer to complete the deal.
There are legions of stories on the web about what's wrong with Win10. I doubt
I'll upgrade until forced by the need for a new computer. But, YOU can always
upgrade later, should you so wish, when a few more of the bugs have been
removed.
Thanks to Ian Manners on the Oly list, for the method. I've successfully
removed the nagging reminder from all 3 of my 'puters.
