the magnifier does not need to be flipped up.  It is always there, so that 
eliminates one step in your chain of events.  It is not a large 
magnification (1.2x if I remember correctly), but it does help a lot.

But also, don't forget to add to your chain of events the metering flaw in 
Canons as you stop the lens down.  That adds the most time to flow of 
picture taking.
