Information from the Giessen newspapers (15.02.07)

Next non-rumour:=20
/Weller (precision engineering) has bought into Zeiss-Hensoldt in=20
Wetzlar with ACM (Kaufmann) money.
ACM (or perhaps Kaufmann in some other guise) is now responsible for=20
coating technologies and prototype construction for Leica Microsystems CM=
S.
ACM has a major sharehold in Via Optik, a leading producer of optical=20
systems employing plastics and supplying the automotive industry with=20
sensors.
ACM also has a large share capital in S=FC=DF (coatings) and Sensitec (se=
nsors)

The city of Wetzlar now mentions a 110,000 square meter site in the=20
industrial park at Spilburg close to the motorway exit Wetzlar South/

Whether this corresponds with the planning of a centre for optical,=20
precision engineering and sensor technologies planned by ACM is not=20
clear, neither is the identity of the three companies intending to=20
relocate to this site.

Feinwerktechnik GmbH niederlassen. /

The planned optical industrial park in Wetzlar is taking shape.
The Leitz Park GmbH (ltd) confirmed that they have now purchased the 13=20
hectare site (Schanzenfeld), close to Autobahn 45, from the city of=20
Wetzlar.
It is possible that, in the future, the three optical concerns Leica=20
Camera AG, Via Optic GmbH and Uwe Weller Feinwerktechnik GmbH may move=20
to the new site.
The Salzburg based ACM holds shares in all three companies, ACM already=20
announced in February that they intend to move Leica back to Wetzlar.

A definitive announcement should have been made in March according to=20
Austrian newspapers. ACM only confirms Weller and Via Optic as=20
"candidates " for the new site

HR-online (Hessen Radio) also mentions that ACM intends to build a Leica =

Museum on the site.

More when I find it.
