The 'difficulty' of converting the mount and mechanisms inside the D700 to R with Auto Aperture for that Lens Mount is that it makes going Back to N mount just as difficult as taking it to R in the first place. In my mind you'd be as an owner pretty stoutly buying into your Nikon now being a 'Poor Man's Leica' going forward. I also don't see much hope of a 'retrofit' adapter to make the R mount take Nikon again in a fully operational manner. The Lens Flange Differences would wreak havoc with infinity focus and restoring AF communications and controls via an adapter for the adapted R mount would be an engineering nightmare. imho Richard On Jan 20, 2011, at 12:26 PM, William B.
