I'm still banished to my laptop here with only PS Elements 2.0 - but there is a one click method to get the muddiness out of all 3 of these shots. Select 'levels' (NOT automatic levels), when the histogram pops up click on the right-hand (white) pipette, drag this across to the image and click with the pipette on the brightest part of the snow falling off the roof - wham-zam! it suddenly turns into a wonderful bright winters day with a much happier Harrier.
Another tweak is just a tiny subsequent touch more contrast.Try it out - the effect is amazing - if it comes out too bright, you didn't find the brightest bit of snow.
