Hi Richard!
Unless you really need the "reach" (eFL equivalent of 800mm) and you're happy
with the AF speed via the kipon, then you don't need the Pana-Leica. (At least
it's the only lens that long in the mFT system. Easy to find. Oly has nothing
to match it, as yet.)
As I do a lot of birds, I need the reach. As well, compared to the long focus
(as opposed to tele) Telyt 400mm/f6.8, the Pana-Leica is tiny. So I can carry
9 -fisheye, 12~40/2.8, 75/1.8 & 100~400/4-6.3 all in one small bag. Love it!
And, yes, I was impressed at the 1/6th (not 1/16th) of a second, hand held,
too!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Fröhliche Weihnachten, etc.
etc. etc. - to all.
David.
That's quite the amazing shot for 1/16th a second. I'm quite impressed. No,------
seriously - wow. Also I'm militantly opposed to 'twinkles' in my shots Unless
absolutely zero reasonable alternative choice in the matter. I'm using my EOS
Canon 70-200 f4 L IS on my Olympus OMD-5 with AF and IS via a Kipon adapter
for 140-400 equivalent zoom so I'm probably not in market for this lens, but
is this Pany 100-400 easy to pick out in their lineup or are they making
multiples? Canon iirc makes and sells 5 different 70-200 L series lenses at
the moment.
Happy Holidays
Richard Ward

It's OK, Godfrey. My lens testing is taking photos. I've no interest in
charts.
But, the lens arrived late yesterday, so not much time to play with it.
Tomorrow we leave for Alberta, for Christmas with the kids & grandkids.
(Actually, they're not grand ... just "so-so" kids!)
But, Thursday, we'll be visiting an old friend who had dozens of bird
feeders, thus tons of birds. You can bet I'll be "testing" there!
David.
Nicely done!------
I don't know whether it's worth doing a bunch of "lens testing" ... It
sure seems fine far as lens performance goes. I'd just get to work with it
and make some photographs. :-)
Merry Xmas, Happy Hanukkah, Season's Greetings, ... Happy New Year to all!

My Christmas present to me, from me, was a new Pana-Leica 100~400 zoom
lens.
So far, I've very impressed with it's fit, finish and handling.
I will need to do more testing to determine it's optical qualities, but
again, so far I've been impressed.
Snowing, thus overcast, here. Light is low. But here's a first effort.
Our cat, Bitsy, is not comfortable unless he had a paw on either Rose or
I, or some other way has contact. Here he is, settling down to sleep on
Rose's hand.

Depth of field is shallow, as wide open was the only option.
Available darkness with 1/6th second @ f4.9. ISO 2500.
