I have had better luck adjusting the focus, not the camera distance.  It
sees to blend better.  Not sure why.  I would have thought  like you, since
by moving the camera the image magnification remains the same.  So, go ahead
and try it by tweaking the focus in minute amounts.

OK. I'll give it a try, but not until my focusing rail comes, to make
changing the focus controllable.  Right now, I'm doing it by moving the legs
of my tripod, and on carpet, it's not really precise! The rail should be
here by the end of July.

I've also discovered several free or open-source programs to do focus
stacking
- CombineZM, Picolay, Tofuse, etc.  Which is good, as I do not use, and will
not buy PS, which seems to be the preferred Focus Stacking software.

So, be patient, but watch this space!
