David,

I can answer that question easily. The SCA351 module won't even set the shutter speed on an R8!! The only thing that the 351 module will do, is give a flash charged/ready indication in the viewfinder, nothing more.

That was one of the reasons that I "divested" myself of my R8, years ago. You need a SCA3501 or 3502 module for full operation on the R8, M6TTL, or M7. Fortunately, for you, the 40MZ2 is SCA3000, or 300 compatible, so that you can interchange modules when using the flash on R7 and lower TTL R-Series.

Hope this helps.

Oh, great master and knower of all things...

If I buy this unit and put it on the R8 with the 351m adapter in place, will I damage the R8? Or will it simply ignore the other things and act like a manual flash (like my Vivitar 283) with the exception of the flash charged/ready indicator?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Thanks.

David.
