G'Mornin' Aram!
I can understand the M3 not fitting your style. In past I've owned an older M3
d/s and the original Leica CL.
The CL was perfect for travel, with just the 40mm Summicron-C & the 90 Elmar
(not the Elmar-C). But every time it flew on an airplane, the
rangefinder would not work. I'd get it fixed and it would be good until the
next time it flew on an airplane.
Eventually I got rid of it, as this problem made it less than the perfect
travel camera! But, it sure was nice & light to carry around!
Like you, neither one ever suited my style of photography (I see and shoot
long) so I don't miss them.
Enjoy running that roll of film through it, if you can!
David.
Thanks to all who offered advice on the M3 I asked about. I will pass
along the information to see what the owner wants to do. If I was in
the market, I would get it, but the M does not suit my style of
shooting, nature, macro mostly. But it was a joy to handle. I think I
will ask if I can run a roll of film through it. That would serve two
purposes. 1 is selfish. I just want to do it, to experience a
rangefinder. the second could check the accuracy of the focus and the
shutter I guess. assuming I can focus accurately with a rangefinder. A
good excuse anyway.
So, thanks again. Just a wealth of knowledge out there with nice people
willing to share.
