[LRflex] Leitax Problems

I bought the Leitax for the Canon EOS digital system.
I have a 1DS, and 1D Mark II. I mounted the Leitax on my Leica 80-200. I found
that the screws provided are not long enough for all but two, which are very
short screws. But this is secondary to the following problem.
When I mounted the 80-200 on my cameras with the Leitax I got an error message
01 (lens communication), and the camera would not operate. I didn't try to
mount the Leitax on any other of my Leica lenses, since the error message is
from the adapter not which lens its on. When I removed the Leitax and put a
Leica R to EOS adapter back on the Leica mount, my cameras worked as they
always have previously.
I have experienced this same problem with Kenko EOS auto extension tubes, a
Canon FD to EOS adapter etc. When I use a cheap Chinese set of non-auto
extension tubes my camera works fine.
