Hi Douglas,
my 'thought' reading those numbers is that while 'smallish' in the scale of
the billions and billions being bled in red on balance sheets the world over -
wouldn't leica's small scale of operations (relative to the big boys in the
corporate world) make those 4mil euro losses all the more damaging and
dangerous? On relative basis, Leica's reserves and markets and balance sheets
would be more 'responsive' to damage - wouldn't it?
I'm just a non-business person who uses camera equipment, but wouldn't an
Asian Camera Maker attempting to break into the Full Frame - Big Boys - High
Specification - Professional SLR business (rhymes with 'Konica') be buying into
oodles of prestige and reflected interest putting Leica Glass on their Cameras?
Make lots of noise in the photo cognizati wouldn't it? It's just a theory that
keeps popping up in my mind as being 'good'. Also would give Konica an instant
"L" lens lineup a'la Canon. I know Panasonic and Leica have some sort of
arrangement so who knows where that's going. Can anyone envision a "PRO"
4/3rd's dSLR coming to fruition?

Richard
