Dear All,

What a wonderful innovation, with its large sensor. Meanwhile where is the Leica digital body to take my R lenses? I can get by with the Canon 30D + adapter, but it's only a work-around.

Good Mornin, Noel.

The S2 is a marvel... no doubt about it. But it's price range (body anticipated to be 15,000 to 20,000 Euros) limits it to true working pros. Especially if you want some glass, to sue with it! But it competes with the Hassy H2, and I'm sure they'll get a share of the market. It is a high value, low production, long product cycle, type of product ... something ideally suited to Leica's design and manufacturing strengths.

The R10, with technology from the S2, but with a full frame (24x36mm) sensor is to be available in the spring of 2010.

Meanwhile, if you want something better than the 30D+ adapter, look at the Oly E3. True, the sensor is not as large as the 30D's, but I have found the finder to be superior to the Canon one, and much better for manual focusing of my Leica glass. For me, the Oly handles much better than the Canon 20/30/40D models, though YMMV.

Noise levels are about the same as the DMR. And, with the in-body image stabilisation, all you Leica glass becomes IS glass!

Over all, I'm much happier with the Oly than I was with either the two Canon 20D or 30D that I've owned.

Cheers!
