[LRflex] Latest R9 Designation?

I have been interested in getting a used R9, to use with a DMR.
A couple of Leica enthusiasts have told me that I should look for
one that was built as a "Block 3" or later. When I asked as to
what serial numbers were involved, I got no reply.
Can anyone tell me what is meant? I know what the block
designation means as far as jet engines are concerned, not Leicas.
