David,

Nice work. I've had and used a 6T Nikon, Multi-element close-up lens for years as well as my collection of elpro VIa, VIIa, Elpro 1, 3 & 4's and to be honest, (I'm gonna get hell for this), I couldn't really tell any difference in the lenses. My favorite is the 75~200, f/4.5 with the Elpro 3 for close-ups. It also works great on a 100 macro elmar. I can get almost as much magnification as with the extension tube, but with no light loss due to extension. Of course, the 100 is an extremely flat field lens anyway.

I agree! What's more, I cannot tell the difference between a shot taken with a good multi-element close-up lens and one taken with extension tubes.... even though I "know" that the tubes are better.

Of course, the cheap, set of 3 (+1,+2 & +3 diopters) in a case for $15 are a different story... though I used 'em as a kid, and got some amazing results - especially considering the price!
