Fellow flexers...
Some of you will recall my recent post if our grandson, Nathan, with his finger
up his nose...
Specifically, this shot...

Well, his younger sister, who will graduate in two years time, is no better
when it come to mugging for the camera.

Lest you think she always looks like that (close!) I got another shot of her,
as she held down the seat at the other end of a row (so, about 10 meters or 30
feet from me) as we waited for others in our group to arrive at Nathan's grad.
But, it still blows me away how easily such a shot can be had, with the aid of
modern equipment. I grew up in the era of film, when we talked about the "nice,
tight grain" in the latest formulation of Tri-X. (Anyone remember that?)
Shooting at ASA 1600 with Tri-X souped in Diafine, worked, but the grain was
horrendous.
Yet this shot was taken, in abysmal lighting, with Oly's 50~200/2.8-3.5 zoom,
wide open (3.5), hand held at 200mm; 1/25th and ISO 1600! What happened to
the "good" ol' days, when the lowest speed you were reasonably expected to
hand-hold was the reciprocal of the focal length ... in this case, 1/200th
(read as: 1/250th).
All that being said, the 2x crop factor made for a nice (I thought)
composition, without cropping.

No matter what you say about the photos ... it's bloody amazing what a modern
camera can do!
