I didn't want to create a hard edge, particularly where theedge of the bird was slightly outside the plane of focus so I erased a little at a time, building up the erasures gradually. Took hours. I'm going to do the same thing with this photo: http://www.wildlightphoto.com/birds/turdidae/wrsh00.html which was made in similar light. This photo as posted is biased towardgood color balance on the bird. I want the palm frond in the background tobe more green (as I remember it) instead of this yellow/green.
