Beautiful Douglas.
So peaceful.
Nice "beak" colour too, if called a beak.

Health: are you going back?

Thanks for sharing

I spent the last two weeks at Drakesbad Guest Ranch near Chester
California, helping set up the facilities for the coming summer season. The food was plentiful and great, the work was physically demanding, the
air was clean and crisp and I hated leaving. I also lost five unwanted
pounds, and was able to temporarily discontinue my daily pain meds
(arthritic shoulder) and allergy meds.

On my return to the Sacramento area I paused in the Sierra Valley south of
Portola CA for a few bird photos, including this male Ruddy Duck in
breeding plumage:

This photo shows his typical posture, with the tail held wee out of the
water.

Technical stuff: R8/DMR, 560mm f/6.8, shoulder stock & monopod, probably
UET-R. 1/3000 sec @ f/6.8. All comments welcome.
