For slides, I've had good luck just shooting them at high rez with my
camera and a 90 macro lens on a light table under a camera stand. Far less
editing than flat bed, and higher quality too.
I don't have examples on hand as I do that at work on archived films. I've
had reasonable success with 35 film too, but I don't have a good film
carrier for it and there's some curling.
