Hi Douglas, quite true about there being a number of other Sensor Manufacturers out there for Leica to turn to, but it's not exactly like this component is entirely 'Modular' in it's switchoutability. (if that's even a word). At least I wouldn't think it would be analagous to like losing an hvac manufacturer for an Architect would be type of situation. Leica already has substantive issues putting cameras in user's hands, mix in a bit of engineering time, getting to know one's counterparts at the new oem, then bring the new chips to production, maybe a bit of validation of qc and suitability testing, and it might become a notable issue replacing Kodak's Chips. On the other hand: Kodak's Chip Business (I think) specializes in low volume special use imaging sensors which are quite popular with folks supplying things to the nsa/cia/nia crowd in washington. Maybe the US Gov will have a say in whether Kodak's Chip Business doesn't get shutdown as a part of all this. I genuinely have few answers to give my own questions beyond speculation and conjecture.
