Howdy Neil
From what I remember, you don't remove the sctrews but
just loosen them and slide the thing until he lens
focuses at infinity. If it's focusing past infinity
you back it off until you hit the near focus stop and
push a little more. Then you go back to infinity and
push it the other way until it focuses perfectly as it
hits infinity. When that's done you tighten the
screws. Now you have to correct the scale so it will
match up at infinity. To do this you start by removing
the ens pack. With the lens at close focus, unscrew
the rim on the hood and pull the hood back. You will
see a small set screw on the side of the lens. Remove
it and uncrew the ring. when it comes off you can pull
out the entire lens pack and set it somewhere safe.
Now unscrew the top lip on the focusing ring and
remove it. This will reveal the focusing ring
retainer. loosen it a turn or so and now adjust the
the distance scale below the ring to match up to
infinity.
Well, that;'s how I remember it last time I did it
some 20 years ago.
See ya
Javier
