I think there is a misconception here. Actually what Peter was talking
about is not really the Fire-Fall which was really a pile of burning
embers that were pushed off Glacier Point and ended in 68, I think.
What Peter is actually referring to is Horsetail Falls, that comes from
the top of El Capitan that occurs for about a week in February when the
sun at sunset peaks through a notch on the south wall of the canyon and
lights up the falls, if it is running.
Recently it has been referred to as Fire Falls, which is leading to this
confusion. It is really Horsetail falls. So, I think Bill was
referring to the real Fire Fall from Glacier Point behind Curry Village,
but Peter was referring to Horsetail Falls from El Capitan

Yes, back in 1955. I don’t remember if it was still going on in 1968 when we were there again.------

Hiya folks. Say, I keep forgetting to ask this over the last couple of years around here; but does anyone have any images of the “Fire-fall” from Yosemite? The image posted below is not mine, but it was the trigger that reminded me to ask if anyone here on the list has any images of it that they’d care to share. Thanks.
