I am presently waiting for answers from Aer Lingus and British 
Airways as to whether locks on the camera case are permissible under 
the present circumstances.

If not, I'll likely wire tie it shut, but place the Pelican case 
inside a cheap "rolly-bag" so that [a] I can pack more around it, and 
[b] it will look less valuable to the average baggage handler, thus 
(I hope) ensuring that it arrives complete!

However, both airlines are confused to the extent that "we'll get 
back to you" is the best they can do!
