Good Day Flexers, I just went there, just for the sake of enjoying the first days of fair weather in Paris: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!179&authkey=!ANz4Cotadhg97uw&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg There it was, HCB and his Leica IIIg: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!172&authkey=!AEZguOb2npVU-Ac&ithint=folder%2c.jpg The exhibit proved to be popular, had to queue for 70 yards: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!180&authkey=!APymQ2p92CrH4m4&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg Then, inside the Beaubourg Center, it has not changed much since I went there 30 years ago: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!181&authkey=!AAgVkBy2fb0JBDI&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg Beaubourg is a tall building and much of Paris is visible, here MontMartre: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!182&authkey=!AAL8YI_fjLpWYl8&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg Another Boring Queue, when I left, it was estimated to 2 Hours to see the exhibit: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!183&authkey=!AFhhp_DMp86vXwo&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg And at last, the exhibition, of course many pictures (a thousand?) but I liked to see his pre-journalism picture, a few of them when stationed in Ivory Coast, HCB bought his Leica after his return from Africa: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=388EAEE88901D9E2!184&authkey=!ALLbH77H2596k2g&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg The comment, hand written with a pencil says "Côte d'Ivoire, passage de la Barre". He obviously embarked with fishermen on the Atlantic sea. Close to the shore there is this turmoil of waves, the guys rowing needs all efforts to pass through this point. We had the same in Senegal, when I was a child. Many pictures came from archives of HCB's employer, the Magnum Agency, however, there or there some pictures were coming from his own private archive. The guy was experimenting a lot. On contact sheet, often there is just one image retained of a roll. But most images were graphics. Over the years, it shows that HCB has improved in technique and his images were more 'standard', approach is quite uniform. But he was good at it, bringing a result back to the employer. Amazingly, no picture from the mid 80's. Not even personnal stuff. He obviously got fed up. That's all and that's quite long. Richard, I got the leaflet in English and kept my Ticket. Let me know you address, off list, and it's all yours! Enjoy!#----------------------------------- From : Xavier F. BILLE mail : hot_billexf@xxxxxxxxxxx Maisons Alfort - France
