I think I would still open the shadows more. Use the shadows slider and the black slider. Then, maybe it is because I am on my laptop right now, and not my desktop. I'll see what others say if I don't get back to my desktop before that. Welcome to the LR club. RE: The Pony Club First of all, thanks to Neil, Philippe and Aram, all of whom have been a great help off-list. With their encouragement and sage advice, I have started to figure out Light Room 4. And it makes sense! Best of all, I have figured out how to make LR index my photos, without moving the actual images. In this way, I can continue to use my automated, read from card, convert to DNG, file and rename to my specs; system that I've used for years! Now, I know where my images are, and so does LR! Thank you, all!! For comparisons, here is the first image I posted, using Silkypix and then Auto-levels in GIMP. http://www.furnfeather.net/Temps/WIPC-1.html Here is my attempt to duplicate Neil's re-work, again, using Silkypix alone. http://www.furnfeather.net/Temps/WIPC-1a.html Note the added but unnecessary perspective control. And here is my first attempt with LightRoom. http://www.furnfeather.net/Temps/WIPC-3.html So, for George, who said: > though I find myself wishing to see more > in the horse shadow detail; > muscles, etc would seem really important; > in this type of photography. I hope you find this an improvement. Thanks, to all how commented and helped off-list. I think I'm becoming a convert!
