My experience is based on the A7Rii and the XE-1. Most comments I will give
may need to be checked based on the current Fuji and Sony lineup.
The bodies are very different in size, with the Fuji being much smaller.
IBIS is, IMO, required these days. In lens stabilization may be good, but I
KNOW that I can hand hold up to 1/8 second (and I got 1 image at .4 seconds
that is incredible) with the Sony IBIS.
You can get a AF adapter to use your Leica M mount lenses on the Sony(s). Not
possible with the Fuji. The adapter works quite well. If you can adapt any
other lens to Leica M, then it too can be AF on the Sony.
The Sony menu system is terrible.
The Fuji menu system is better. More logically related functions are more
easily available.Why someone does not offer a fully programmable menu system,
escapes me.
The buttons on the 2 cameras are about proportional to the body size.... the
Fuji buttons are smaller.
The OEM Fuji - Leica M adapter will allow you to access certain menus directly
without using the EVF or LCD screen menu buttons. Especially nice to change FL
on your EXIF. It is a brilliant piece of really cheap gear. No Sony
equivalent.
Optically I only had the Fuji kit lens. It was not great.The Sony Kit lens is
equally not great.Sony lenses ( if only because they are to cover a larger
sensor) are larger, heavier, and more costly.
I have a buddy that has the Fuji single FL lenses. The results he gets is
pretty amazing.I suspect the lens quality may even favor the Fuji..... some of
the Sony lenses are a bit weak and there were reports that early lenses had QA
issues. The Sony 16-35 F4 lens is really good. Bob Adler has the F2.8 version
and the 35-70 F2.8 lens and his results are also good.
The Fuji uses a different sensor array system than the Sony ( and almost
everyone else... Bayer). There are an amazing amount of comments on the
results with the Fuji and RAW image processors, with none too satisfied.
Apparently you need to look into this area, as some RAW processors work better
than others with Fuji files. Maybe getting the same image with each and
comparing on YOUR choice of raw processor is a good idea..... There are no
such complaints with the Sony.
It has been several years since I had the XE-1. Much has changed in the Fuji
lineup. This camera is the one I had to use on my trip to the Atlantic
Provinces of Canada when my M9 glass cover plate fell off. The pictures I got
with the XE-1 and my Leica M glass were certainly NOT disappointing.
Believe NOTHING you read about lens image quality. Test yourself. There are
more idiots out there than you can imagine.
AND really believe this......... The 50 ASPH 1.4 Summilux has outperformed ANY
lens I have seen. Any. ( have not come across a Otus lens that might give it
a run for its money.) Put that lens on either body and enjoy....... incredible
quality.

I was wondering what people who have these cameras think of them in
comparison to each other. I am thinking of the Sony a7 MIII and the
Fuji Xt series.
Forget that there is a FF vs crop sensor difference. I understand that
issue. I am more interested in native optics, stabilization for legacy
glass, quality of output as far as color and low light, and EVF.
