I was always told that there is a simple way to tell if you have a weed, or a
valuable plant. Simply grasp the plant near it's base and give it a firm tug,
upwards.
If it comes out easily, it was a valuable plant!

Looks like a False Dandelion, which in Washington is a noxious weed.------
Invasive plant from the old world, but so is the true dandelion. It is
edible, but not for horses, which I know would be of concern to you.

But what is a weed? Just an unwanted plant. If you don't want tulips,
I guess you could call them weeds.
