A breif word of caution re the use of a mono or tripod with IS. I don't know if it is true with the OLY but I know for Canon lenses with IS the instruction book specifically states not to use IS with a Tipod as it will burn out the gyros an or motors.

Hi Andy!

That advice is true with SOME Canon lenses. The newer ones, I understand, can be used on a tripod.

With the Oly, there are no warnings that I can find in the book. However, while up/down motion will be low on a monopod, there is still side to side motion, so if I can use the IS, I most likely will. To be sure, I will drop a quick note to Olympus support ... they have been amazingly good.

Cheers!
