Thanks. 85mm is pretty tall. I already have a ball head that must be flopped sideways for verticals. Putting the camera another 85mm away from the ball might really put a strain on the system. My single rail is already a bit tenuous. But maybe that is the sacrifice I need to have. Or maybe I mount the rail on the tripod and the ball head on the rail. That might work better. Hmm. That hought just popped into my head.

This is a lot less expensive than Novoflex too.

The company is very reliable and above-board, I bought most of my lens
adapters from them - if they ever screw anything up, I can get on the
bus and be beating at their front door within 30 minutes, they are just
down the road here in Hannover :-)

Aram,

 Here is a similar one:

Otherwise

It is a noname, I got it from China for around $50 + shipping and it is
quite sturdy

Nice shots. And good use of the equipment. BTW, what brand is that
focusing rail system? Is it sturdy? I have been looking into them. I have
a one axis Novoflex that I got for hardly anything, but would like a two
axis. I have seen a few brands, some quite expensive, some not. I want
sturdy and cheep. I will be hanging a 100 APO off the end.
