Much better, Linda ... though, for my taste, the last shot could stand the background to be a little darker, yet.
I'd play with both the brightness and contrast controls to prevent the highlights being blown by too much contrast. Of course, if you have a "black level" or curves control in the software you're using, that would be preferable.
